***The Handi-Iron is engineered to achieve temperatures as high as Linen (425° F). Most purchasers of the Handi-Iron are using it on Quilting Cottons, which should be temperatures of 350-360° F. However, since customers are used to inferior irons not being hot enough, they are cranking the heat all the way up to the max. We are discovering that Handi-Irons operated at that high of a temperature for prolonged periods of time may burn out. The Handi-Iron does not need to operate at that extreme temperature to achieve great results.
Please be aware of this problem and remember the Handi-Iron does not have an auto shut off which means it maintains the temperature you set until you turn it off. The Handi-Iron should be set to the proper temperature for the fabric being used and not higher. The manufacturer is planning to improve the internal wiring to eliminate the problem with extremely high temperature burnout in future production of the Handi-Irons.Click to see the Xpress Mat in action on YouTube.Buy the Xpress Mat here.
